The Lemonheads, Sunday October 4, The Limelight 2, Belfast
INCREASINGLY elusive indie rock god Evan Dando intends to emerge from hibernation this winter for a short run of live dates featuring yet another new Lemonheads line-up.
Dando will be backed by former Codeine man and noted solo artist Chris Brokaw (whose 2005 Incredible Love LP is a must-own) on guitar, bassist Jen Turner and drummer Todd 'Bullet LaVolta' Philips, which sounds like a damn solid set-up for delivering us some some full-bodied Lemonheads action.
Of course, faithful followers of the 'heads and/or Mr D's solo work will be well aware that you can never quite be certain what's going to happen when they/he take(s) to the stage.
At this point, such erratic unpredictability is almost part of his appeal: it's testament to the strength and enduring appeal of the Evan Dando songbook that even those who've endured shambolic and just plain underwhelming live experiences keep coming back for another chance to hear favourites like Into Your Arms, It's A Shame About Ray, If I Could Talk I'd Tell You, Being Around, Confetti, The Outdoor Type, Hard Drive and Big Gay Heart.
