CANADIAN coffee chain Tim Hortons has confirmed it will open its first Northern Ireland store next week, with more to follow later this year.
Tim Hortons will open on Belfast's Fountain Street on Friday, May 25 at midday and the company has confirmed it is the first of "a number of locations" due to open in the north this year, some of which will be drive-thrus.
Kevin Hydes, chief finance and commercial officer of the Tim Hortons franchise in the UK confirmed the latest opening date.
“We are thrilled to be bringing our famous brewed coffee, baked goods and freshly-prepared food to the people of Belfast. Following the success of our recent restaurant openings in Scotland, Wales and in England, we can’t wait to bring a taste of Canada to Northern Ireland at our new restaurant and welcome new guests to Tim Hortons."
Work to fit out the first Tim Hortons store in Northern Ireland has been ongoing over the past two months and the Canadian brand will be joined on Fountain Street by
independent coffee chain Bob & Berts, due to open its third Belfast restaurant imminently.
The new Tim Hortons Belfast store is set to create a number of job opportunities at all levels, including managers and assistant managers and those interested should email careers@timhortons.co.uk.
The Tim Hortons brand was founded by its namesake, a top professional ice hockey player, who wanted to create a space where everyone would feel at home. Now almost eight of 10 cups of coffee sold across Canada are served at Tim Hortons restaurants and more than 5.3 million Canadians visit the café daily.
Tim Hortons opened its first UK store last June in Glasgow and now a further 17 outlets are now serving guests in and around Glasgow, Cardiff and Manchester.
As part of the Belfast store opening day festivities the first 100 people in line will receive a free lunch combo, while the very first person in the queue will be gifted with a year’s supply of free Tim Hortons coffee.
