TYRONE All-Ireland winner Joe McMahon is expected to link up with current Kilmacud Crokes boss Robbie Brennan should the Dunboyne native take up the vacant Meath Senior manager position.

McMahon, who picked up two Celtic Crosses during his time in the red and white jersey, 2005 and 2008, was part of the coaching setup in Tyrone for the past four seasons under Brian Dooher and Fergal Logan.

The Omagh clubman also coached Galbally to Tyrone and Ulster Club Intermediate titles in 2022, guiding them all the way to the All-Ireland final where they ultimately lost out to Rathmore of Kerry by three points.

McMahon isn’t the only Ulster name attached to Brennan’s management ticket, with former Monaghan and Cavan coach Martin Corey also part of the backroom team along with Meath legend Bernard Flynn.

Corey coached with the Breffni County when they upset the odds in 2020 and captured a historic Ulster title while he spent the last two seasons with his native county Monaghan, alongside his brother, Vinny.

Brennan is currently hunting for a fourth consecutive Senior Championship title with Kilmacud Crokes but is one of the names linked with the Meath job following Colm O’Rourke’s decision to step aside last month.

Derry and Monaghan remain in the hunt for new managers, and both had been linked with former Farney boss Malachy O’Rourke, who was appointed as the new Tyrone manager on Tuesday night.

Monaghan look to rebuild after dropping out of Division One this season under Corey, while Derry are still on the lookout for someone to replace Mickey Harte, who stepped down after they were knocked out of the All-Ireland series at the quarter-final stage.
