Round three

Group B

Derrygonnelly 1-9 Erne Gaels 1-8

Ronan McHugh bagged a goal deep in injury-time as Derrygonnelly snatched victory to top the group.

For the majority of the contest Eren Gaels looked as if they would make it three wins out of three as they never trailed until that late goal.

Points from Ultan Kelm and Ryan Lyons helped them into an early 0-3 to 0-1 lead and Kelm also netted the only goal of the half in the 23rd minute to make it 1-4 to 0-3.

It was tit-for-tat after that as Dan McCann, Shane Rooney and Kelm tagged on points for Erne Gaels, while Gary McKenna and Rory Joe Duffy hit back for the Harps to leave four in it at the break, 1-7 to 0-6.

The second half was low-scoring. Gary McKenna (2) and Aidy McKenna landed for Derrygonnelly but Erne Gaels looked to be holding on for the win with Rooney knocking over to leave them two up in added on time.

But then came that match winner from McHugh which put Harps straight through to the semi-finals, while Erne Gaels host Teemore in next weekend’s quarter final.

Ederney 1-13 Devenish 0-12

Ederney booked their place in the quarter-finals with victory over Devenish on Saturday.

The sides traded points, with Jason Love and Terry O’Flanagan among the scorers for Devenish, while Paul McCusker landed three points for Ederney to make it 0-5 apiece.

A 27th-minute Marty McGrath goal proved crucial as it helped Ederney into a 1-7 to 0-6 half-time lead.

Three successive Fionan O’Brien frees did bring Devenish back into the contest after the break but with Pol McKervey and Shay Deazley keeping the scoreboard ticking over for the St Joseph’s side, they ran out 1-13 to 0-12 winners to set up a quarter-final meeting with Kinawley.

Group A

Enniskillen 2-7 Kinawley 0-7

Goals in the closing stages of each half from Conor McShea and Conor Love were decisive as Enniskillen Gaels topped Group A to advance to the semi-final.

The sides shared the opening six points in a cagey encounter, with Tomas Corrigan accounting for all three of Kinawley’s and Love, Callum Jones and John Reihill registering for Enniskillen.

The Gaels finished the half well as Love fired over, before McShea flicked the ball to the net to leave it 1-4 to 0-3 at the break.

Enniskillen had the experienced Richard O’Callaghan black-carded in the 42nd minute but they were able to maintain their lead and Love then put the game to bed in the 59th minute as he palmed to the net from an incisive attack to make it a seven-point game.

Corrigan did land a late free for Kinawley but this was just a consolation score. Dom Corrigan’s side take second place in the group and now face a home quarter-final against Ederney this weekend.

Teemore 2-6 Belnaleck 1-7

Division Two champions Teemore progressed to the quarter-finals with a two-point win over Belnaleck.

The Shamrocks shaded matters in the first half and went in at the interval with a 1-5 to 1-3 advantage. A Rian McNally goal had put Teemore into a 1-2 to 0-1 lead but Belnaleck hit back through a Darragh McGurn penalty.

Sean McNally, Colm McNally, Aaron McManus and Oisin Murphy accounted for the Teemore points in the opening half, while McGurn, Fergal Keenan and Mark McKenzie knocked over for Belnaleck.

An Aaron Lee goal early in the second half proved a vital score for Teemore and although Ciaran McBrien and Garvan Quigley fired over points for Belnaleck, scores from Murphy and Rian McNally secured the win for the Shamrocks who now take on Erne Gaels in the quarter-finals.
