ALL-IRELAND champions Granemore have successfully defended their Local Women in Sport Armagh senior camogie title achieving their second three-in-a-row with a narrow, but deserved victory over Ballymacnab in the Box-IT Atheltic Grounds last night.

The damage was done in an uneventful first half by the end of which Granemore led by 0-8 to 0-2 with all but two points coming from frees.

Rachael Merry had accumulated seven points in that opening half with Player of the Match Ciara Hill the only other scorer from open play.

Ballymacnab roared back in contention during the third quarter with two points from Ellen Lennon and one each from Naoise Hughes and Aoibhinn O’Hare.

Points from Merry (from a free) and Maria Haughey stalled them momentarily but three points from Naoise Hughes brought it down to a single-point game entering the final five minutes.

Merry and Hughes then traded scores, as did Corrina Doyle and Erin Murphy before time ran out on Ballymacnab.
