Random act of kindness at a McDonalds drive through in Newry

Francis Sands got a nice surprise at a McDonald's drive through in Newry when a stranger paid for his order.

Mr Sands said he had gone to the fast food outlet on a Wednesday, placed his order and when he went to pay "I was told the guy in front had already paid my bill".

The McDonalds employee was as surprised as Mr Sands.

"The tiller was surprised because he said must have won the lotto or won on the horses or football," Mr Sands said.

He didn't know who the generous stranger was and never got a chance to thank them, but added that "from time to time people surprise me by the things they say and do, in a nice way".

There's a social movement where people leave money with a member of staff in a café and the next person who walks up to the cash desk to pay benefits from the stranger's generosity.

Have you been that lucky person? If so we'd love to hear your story. Email digital.editorial@irishnews.com
