Suranne Jones shows off a new look – as an austere headmistress in Vanity Fair.
The Doctor Foster actress is one of several star names who have been cast in the ITV period drama, alongside Martin Clunes, Frances de la Tour and Michael Palin, with Olivia Cooke in the lead role.
Jones, 39, is pictured as “snobbish” Miss Pinkerton, the headmistress of an academy for “young ladies”.
She honours those who have money and status and detests protagonist Becky Sharp (Cooke), in the new ITV adaptation of William Makepeace Thackeray’s novel.
Sharp attempts to claw her way out of poverty and scale the heights of English society in the famous story.
Vanity Fair begins on Sunday September 2 at 9pm on ITV.
