A new crowdfunding project on Kickstarter is raising funds for what it claims is the world’s first automatic toothbrush.
Amabrush is a mouth guard-like device that contains vibrating bristles and a magnetic handle to enable different users to pick up different mouthpieces and avoid contamination.
The device can effectively and completely clean the user’s teeth in 10 seconds, the makers say.
Toothpaste capsules are fitted into the mouthpiece and foam then pushes through the bristles, which Amabrush says are directed in a 45 degree angle against the gingival (gum) area of teeth to simulate the Bass method – a recommended brushing technique by dentists.
The mouthpiece vibrates to stimulate cleaning, and the whole device can be wirelessly charged.
As a teeth cleaning system, Amabrush has clearly hit the right note, as its Kickstarter campaign has already surpassed its funding goal with more than three weeks of its campaign left.
According to the Kickstarter page, 79 euro (£69) will get you a basic version of the brush, which includes a traditional charger as opposed to a wireless charging station – that is part of the 99 euro (£87) package.
Shipping of the Amabrush is due to begin in December this year.
