A new online tool claims it can tell Instagram users how valuable posts on their account are or could be to advertisers.
In the growing age of “online influencers” – celebrities and other online personalities who are paid to advertise products and services on their social media accounts – the tool gives the average Instagram user the chance to find out how much a post from them is worth.
The tool was developed by Manchester-based firm Inkifi, who normally specialise in creating prints from Instagram pictures.
It uses data from the 2017 state of influencer marketing report, which calculated that on average each follow on the photo-sharing site is worth £0.0043.
The feature enables users to enter their Instagram handle and quickly see how much a post would be worth based on their follow count.
A post by Taylor Swift, for example, would be worth £449,300 according to the programme, thanks to the singer’s 104.4 million followers.
Another of Instagram’s most-followed accounts – that of Selena Gomez – is also worth £557,400 per post according to the program.
The Facebook-owned site has more than 800 million monthly active users – more than 500 million of which use the app every day.
Should any of them be considering trying their hand at growing their audience as an influencer, they could now track their progress as they grow.
