THE family of a man whose body was found in a wheelie bin in Co Armagh have been left distraught by the tragedy.
Monsignor Aidan Hamill, parish priest of St Peter's in Lurgan, said the community in the town were horrified by the murder of Owen Creaney.
The 40-year-old's remains were found in a wheelie bin outside a house at Moyraverty Court in Craigavon on Saturday afternoon.
Police said the victim, who was from Victoria Place in Lurgan, had been the victim of "a sustained and serious assault" before being dumped.
Yesterday police were granted additional time by a court to question a 27-year-old man and a 23-year-old woman who were arrested on Sunday night in connection with the murder.
Monsignor Aidan Hamill spoke yesterday about the "horrendous ordeal" Mr Creaney's family were going through following his death.
The parish priest said the family were "very upset and distraught that this awful thing has happened to them".
"They have the support of their family, but nevertheless in spite of all of that, it's the most upsetting thing to happen to any family to have to go through," he said.
"It must be a horrendous ordeal for them to have to go through this knowing the awful things that happened to him.
"I don't know the details myself, but the fact that it happened and the way that it happened is making it an awful experience for them to have to live this."
