A TYRONE GAA star is to describe in a tell-all book how his gambling addiction led to him appearing in online pornography.
Cathal McCarron took part in a gay sex video after moving to England in 2013 in an effort to deal with his gambling problems.
But the Dromore footballer returned to Ireland and went into rehab after the explicit porn site footage was circulated online.
McCarron (28) has not spoken publicly about his struggles since the video emerged, but has now announced plans to share his story.
'Out of Control: How My Addiction Almost Killed Me and My Road to Redemption', is expected for release in October through publishing house Simon & Schuster.
The autobiography has been ghost-written by former Clare hurling goalkeeper Christy O'Connor.
The book blurb says McCarron's gambling addiction cost him "hundreds of thousands of pounds, endless relationships and, almost, his life".
It reads: "Addiction led him down an even darker path and into a world of total depravity where he was willing to do anything for money.
"Out of Control is a sports story unlike any other, a tale of success, lies, deceit, theft, recovery, rehabilitation and ultimately, redemption."
A description of the autobiography on Google Books says McCarron appeared in a porn video and upon receiving payment "walked across the road and gambled half his earnings in a betting shop".
McCarron has posted a picture of the book on Twitter with the message: "Delighted to be releasing my autobiography later this year."
McCarron has made significant strides in his gambling recovery, returning to the Tyrone team and being nominated for a second Allstar award.
He played in Sunday's Ulster semi-final draw with Cavan at Clones.
