DUP MP Ian Paisley junior has withdrawn from Twitter.

Users expressed surprise that the North Antrim MP appeared to have removed his account.

The son of the late DUP founder had been an active Twitter user posting regular updates from both his constituency and the House of Commons.

Mr Paisley retains a Facebook account for his work as an MP, but has not posted there since mid-May.

Most DUP MPs have been regularly active on Twitter, but in recent months some have stopped.

Upper Bann MP David Simpson has not tweeted since March, while last month another MP, Emma Little-Pengelly, declared that she was "done with this nonsense" in a Twitter post before she returned to the platform yesterday.

Neither the DUP nor Mr Paisley could be reached for comment.
