A 24-year-old man allegedly tried to steal a Jaguar car during break-ins at two homes in Co Antrim, a court has heard.
Kurtis Johnston is accused of taking keys to the vehicle and then fleeing when it collided with another car outside one of the properties in Carrickfergus.
He was remanded in custody at Belfast Magistrates Court charged with burglary, aggravated vehicle taking causing damage, and attempted burglary.
Police said an intruder entered a house at Selby Road on Tuesday and stole a set of keys.
The homeowner heard a collision outside and spotted a man running off.
The Jaguar X Type had rolled back and struck a parked vehicle, causing a small scratch.
A short time later another property on Alexander Park was allegedly targeted in a further attempted break-in.
Johnston, of Model Avenue in the town, was arrested and charged based on descriptions provided of the would-be intruder.
He also faces a separate count of criminal damage by kicking in a door at a woman's home on Wednesday.
Defence barrister Richard McConkey suggested his client could be released to live under curfew at an approved address.
Bail was refused, however.
District Judge Peter Magill said: "These burglaries are alleged to have occurred on 1st September, and on the 2nd he's allegedly kicking in the door of this lady."
He remanded Johnston in custody, to appear again by video-link on October 1.
