West Belfast's Falls Park will once again host live music events as part of the 35th Féile programme.
West Belfast's Falls Park will once again host live music events as part of the 35th Féile programme.

IRELAND'S biggest community arts festival is returning in August with more than 350 events taking place as part of Féile an Phobail.

The programme is being launched in west Belfast this week at an event to be attended by Irish senator and world-renowned trad singer Frances Black.

She will join a panel including Derry Girls actress Tara Lynne O’Neill in launching a line-up of events that will include live music, debates, exhibitions and more taking place between August 3 - 13.

Highlights this year will include a Falls Park gig by Irish language hip-hop act Kneecap, and Boyzlife featuring Boyzone's Keith Duffy and former Westlife star Brian McFadden.

Meanwhile, among those taking part in panel debates include former UK Labour leader and MP Jeremy Corbyn, and GAA President Elect Jarlath Burns.

This year will also see Irish News editor Noel Doran chair a discussion on the work of the late historian Eamon Phoenix, who died last November aged 69.

Dr Phoenix took part in numerous Féile events in previous years, lending his expertise to exhibitions and discussions on Irish history.

Féile director Kevin Gamble said: “Féile, from its outset in 1988, has sought to display and showcase the positives of West Belfast and the incredible talent and creativity that comes from that.

“We want to thank all our partners, funders, sponsors, and stakeholders, and most importantly our local community for their continued support.”
