LIDL has confirmed its new £8 million store in Strabane will open on December 7.
The German discounter has built a new concept supermarket on the site of Strabane Retail Park after demolishing four retail units and a former car showroom.
Lidl paid around £3m for the retail park site five years ago.
The four former units were previously occupied by Argos, New Look, Menarys and Peacocks, while the former car showroom was the Strabane base for Pat Kirk.
It’s understood the units were demolished in 2022 after the leases expired.
While Argos has relocated to the centre of the town, the three other retailers did not remain in Strabane.
Lidl said its new build store will form the anchor of its multimillion pound investment plan for the wider site, which will include the erection of two new large retail units next to the new supermarket.
The German grocer said its part of a £26m investment plan being rolled out in the North West.
