THE Ulster Drama Festival brings six of the best amateur dramatic companies to the stage of Newtownabbey's Theatre at the Mill this month.

Now in its 63rd year, the drama festival is one of Ireland's most competitive and prestigious, with entrants competing in regional heats and the top six winning a place in the finals event, which runs from May 18-23.

Competing for the Grand Opera House Premier Award, as well as other acting and technical awards, this year are Estuary Players, the Clarence Players, Ballyshannon Drama Society, Rasper Players, Newpoint Players and the Holywood Players.
