The Divine Comedy, November 14, Mandela Hall, QUBSU, Belfast
HE'S long been regarded as a musical legend around these parts, but now Co Fermanagh's finest Neil Hannon and his Divine Comedy are to receive official recognition of his/their status as one of the north's most respected acts.
Neil has been announced as this year's recipient of the Oh Yeah Legend Award, a gong bestowed upon a different homegrown musical act of significant status every year by the Oh Yeah centre in Belfast as part of the NI Music Awards.
Last year's accolade went to Co Antrim-bred alternative rockers Therapy?, who treated us to a live run-through their hit LP Troublegum on the night by way of celebration.
Fans will be pleased to learn that Neil and band will be doing something similar this year after he's picked up the award.
"I am amazed and humbled to be receiving this honour," said his Neilness upon learning of his official Oh Yeah Legend status.
"There is nothing more gratifying than recognition from your homeland, and I’m very much looking forward to playing some songs and seeing some familiar faces at the Mandela Hall on November 14."
