SEAN nós singer Iarla Ó Lionáird and guitarist Steve Cooney are among the talents lined up for Turais Trad, two forthcoming tours of traditional acts announced by Irish language and arts organisations An Droichead and Cultúrlann Uí Chanáin.

Ó Lionáird, vocalist with trad-fusion supergroup The Gloaming, will perform with Aussie Cooney, a long-time collaborator with many of the best-known names in Irish music, in Armagh, Dungiven and Omagh next month.

Anglo-Irish folk festival favourites and BBC Radio 2 Folk Award winners Flook will take in Omagh, Derry and Belfast in February as part of the initiative, as will two hotly tipped acts from the Scottish folk scene, Mischa Macpherson and Adam Holmes & the Embers.

Twenty-year-old Isle of Lewis harpist and singer Macpherson was recently awarded Gaelic Singer of the Year at the Scottish Trad Awards while Holmes's debut album Heirs and Graces was nominated for Scottish Album of the Year and Best Album at the Scottish Traditional Music Awards last year.
