THE Lemonheads are set to return to The Limelight's stage for the first time in almost 20 years on Sunday night – and advance word from their recently completed US tour dates suggests that fans are in for a treat.
Reports are coming in of solid two-hour-long sets packed with fan favourites and complimentary curveballs, performed via a combination of full band rocking (featuring current Lemonheaders Chris 'Codeine and Come' Brokaw and Todd 'Bullet LaVolta' Philips) and Evan Dando acoustic.
In other words, pretty much exactly what Lemonheads veterans who have weathered gigs good, bad and disastrous over the years will be wanting from their occasionally erratic hero with a songbook to die for.
Fingers-crossed that Evan brings this current good form across the Atlantic with him.
Expect to hear all your 90s Lemonheads faves – with the stubborn exceptions of breakout covers Mrs Robinson and Luka, naturally – and maybe even a smattering of highlights from Evan's solo work.
As an added bonus, openers Few Bits from Belgium (FB.com/Fewbitsband) do a nice line in soothingly shoegazey indie rock as documented on their self-titled debut LP from 2013.
Their female vocal-led, early-90s 'like Britpop never happened' effects-driven guitar vibes should suit the occasion rather well.
