CO TIPPERARY author Donal Ryan comes to Belfast on December 9 for a lunchtime talk. The writer will be reading from his new collection of short stories A Slanting on the Sun, described by The Guardian as “brilliant, bleak, plain-speaking”.
He will also discuss his best-selling novels The Spinning Heart (longlisted for the 2013 Booker Prize) and The Thing About December.
Fellow novelist Louise O’Neill, meanwhile, will give a lunchtime reading next Wednesday (December 2) after her scheduled visit to Belfast yesterday was put back a week. She will be reading from her acclaimed new book Asking For It. Both author events are in association with The John Hewitt Society.
Co Cork writer O’Neill will also appear at a `meet the author’ event for young people (aged 14+) at the Skainos Centre in East Belfast on Tuesday December 1 at 7pm.
:: Louise O’Neill comes to the Ulster Hall in Belfast on Wednesday December 2 and Donal Ryan on Wednesday December 9 (both at 1pm, tickets £5).
