Ulrich Schnauss, tonight, The Hudson, Belfast, free admission
IT'S Friday, and what better way to ease into your weekend than with some live electronic shoegaze sounds courtesy of tonight's free gig by Ulrich Schnauss in the courtyard (AKA, 'the smoking area') at The Hudson in Belfast city centre.
Germany's answer to our own Kevin Shields – except he's armed with a laptop rather than a Fender Jazzmaster – Schnauss creates atmospherically textured 'anti-dance' that's often quite mesmerising to behold, particularly when combined with visual accompaniments from regular collaborator Nat Urazmetova, who will be on hand to dohis psychedelic thing during tonight's live set.
Keil-born Schauss was recently recruited into the ranks of veteran, highly influential German experimentalists and soundtrack favourites Tangerine Dream (Risky Business, Street Hawk, The Keep, Sorcerer, Thief) so don't miss this rare chance to check him out solo for the bargain price of sod all.
