1. When did you think about music as a career and what were your first steps into it?

It was my dream growing up and I sang all the way through school. The 'career’ happened accidentally. I was working with a theatre company Red Lemon and I ended up writing music for the shows and stumbled into the music scene. I joined the band The Delawares as a backing singer and became hooked. Katie and the Carnival was my first attempt at writing for myself and Goldie Fawn is my newest project. I also play with Pleasure Beach. You have to really love it if you want to do it as a career.

2. Best gigs you've been to?

Christine and the Queens, Anna Calvi and Villagers. My dream act to see would be Bjork.

3. Fantasy wedding/birthday party band?

Probably Queen – Freddie Mercury was a genius.

4. The record you'd take to a desert island?

Rumours by Fleetwood Mac.

5. And the book?

One of the best books I have read in the last few years was Letters to a Young Poet by Rainer Maria Rilke. I read it at a time that I was feeling very challenged creatively and found it massively inspiring and beautifully written.

6. Top three films?

The Grand Budapest Hotel, Man on Wire, North by Northwest.

7. Favourite authors?

Thor Heyerdahl, Ernest Hemmingway, F Scott Fitzgerald

8. Ideal holiday destination?

On my list would be somewhere like Bali, Cambodia or Thailand or I would love to backpack around South and Central America. And I’d love to see more of Africa.

9. Pet hate?

I hate rudeness for no reason and being patronised or people on power trips.

10. What's your favourite:

Dinner: Mexican or Italian.

Dessert: Ice cream.

Drink: Gin and soda with fresh lime.

11. Who is your best friend and how do you know each other?

I’m so lucky to have a really strong group of best friends that it’s impossible to pick one.

12. Is there a God?

I am really interested in religion and very open-minded about it. I don’t know if there is a God but I definitely think that there is something that pulls us all together.

Katie Richardson curates and appears in the music, theatre, film and dance show Murmur at The MAC in Belfast on Saturday (June 11) at 8pm, tickets £12/£15. (TheMAClive.com)
