THE County Tyrone village of Plumbridge is gearing up to host the third annual Jim Conway Traditional Music Festival this weekend.
With a programme which boasts world-class musicians, alongside lively sessions, inspiring workshops, storytelling and recitals, the Festival has gone from strength to strength since its inception in 2013.
"Jim Conway was a native of Plumbridge and a master of Traditional music," says chairman Tom Blee.
"While he went on to live in America, Glenelly always held a special place in his heart. He's a man that will be remembered for passing his love of traditional music on to the next generation.
"His son Brian and daughter Rose are world class fiddler players. We're delighted to be able to hold this festival in Jim's memory and to keep traditional music alive by inspiring the younger generations,"
One of the many highlights of the weekend will be a concert by world-class traditional musicians Zoe Conway and John McIntyre on Saturday evening.
Zoe, whose grandfather was a neighbour of Jim Conway, has toured worldwide with her blend of classical and Irish traditional music.
Her versatility as an instrumentalist has allowed her to perform across a broad range of genres, from touring with Riverdance and working with mainstream international acts such as Rodrigo y Gabriella, Damien Rice and Lou Reed.
