CO DOWN rockers The Answer have announced a return to Belfast in early 2017.
HAVING teased fans with a couple of new tracks at the end of their 10th anniversary gig for debut LP Rise at The Limelight earlier this year, the upcoming show will find singer Cormac Neeson and co drawing more heavily upon their recently released album Solas – the most diverse, progressive sounding record the quartet have ever made.
From the epic Celtic warrior stomp of the brooding title track and Untrue Colour's anthemic synth-tinged alt-rock grooves, through the pretty radio rock balladry of Thief of Light and Battle Cry to moody folk/blues rock number Being Begotten, Solas is a bold affair from front to back which deserves to see The Answer finally shaking off those 'retro rocker' tags.
Support comes from Belfast hairies Maverick, who released their enjoyably raucous, air guitar-friendly album Big Red back in the summer.
