Stiff Little Fingers, Saturday August 26, Custom House Square, Belfast
THIS summer just keeps getting better and better for punks of all ages: with US blow-ins Green Day and Rancid already confirmed to play Ormeau Park in June, now Belfast's own punk proginators Stiff Little Fingers have announced their biggest ever hometown gig at Custom House Square in August.
The Stiffs are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, so the outdoor show will be something of a 'birthday bash' for Jake Burns and co – and they will be laying on an extra-special supporting bill to suit the significance of the occasion.
The veteran band, who released their excellent album No Going Back in 2014, will be joined by fellow NI punks The Outcasts, English peers The Stranglers and Ruts DC and Mr Good Vibrations himself, Terri Hooley, who will be presumably manning the DJ booth to entertain the crowd with an unsteady stream of vintage vinyl favourites.
That is quite the line-up for anyone with a penchant for '77 punk' – now all we need is some good weather to compliment the outdoor anarchy.
:: Tickets priced £25 are on-sale from 9am via Ticketmaster outlets.
