BELFAST Harlequins Club is holding the first of its biannual art exhibitions this week, showcasing some of the finest artists in the north. The south Belfast sports club at 45a Deramore Park has a 30-year tradition of attracting top artists to their clubhouse: their current show, Exhibition by Northern Ireland Artists, features paintings and sculptures by 80 local talents.
Those participating include Marjorie Bloch, Kyron Bourke, Anne Butler, Deirdre Burns, Glynis Burns, Hugh Clawson, Chris Dearden, Adam Frew, Cara Gordon, Eamonn Higgins, Trina Hobson, Connor Maguire, Hector McDonnell, Howard Ross, Tom Stephenson and Paul Walls.
Opened by Ulster and Harlequins rugby player Paul Marshall with a private viewing yesterday evening, the new exhibition is now open to the public until Sunday.
Admission is free and viewing hours are from 10am to 5pm today, Thursday and Saturday, 10am to 9pm on Friday and 12pm to 4pm on Sunday.
Light refreshments are available and there is an exhibition catalogue priced £2.50 in aid of all sporting sections of the club.
In addition to Belfast Harlequins men's and women's hockey and rugby, Belfast Trojans American Football, Belfast Bowling Club, Rosario Squash Club and St Brigid's GAA also play at the club grounds.
