BELFAST'S new downtown summer music festival hits its half-way point tomorrow night with an mostly local line-up featuring performances by Amy McDonald, Ryan McMullan and David C Clements and headlined by be-capped Bangor crooner Foy Vance.

If that's all a bit too civilised for your tastes, don't worry: Tuesday August 22 finds Leicester choonigans Kasabian taking top billing at Custom House Square after sets from chart-topping indie outfit Blossoms and fast-rising Derry punk trio Touts.

Next Friday's CHS concert brings Brummie Britpop and baggy survivors Ocean Colour Scene back to Belfast with support from mighty Scouse psychedelic popsters The Coral and Carl 'him out of The Libertines' Barat & The Jackals.

After that, the first year of Custom House Square-branded shows will come to a close with two sold-out dates: Stiff Little Fingers' 40th anniversary bonanza on Saturday August 26 features the Belfast punks playing with a load of their mates including The Stranglers, Ruts DC and The Outcasts, while on Sunday August 27 old skool techno and house master Carl Cox will man the decks for a final rave-up also featuring sets by local danceheads Phil Kieran and Schmutz.
