THE John O'Connor Writing School's second annual Literary Arts Festival concludes this weekend with a pair of special musical events in Armagh city.
Tomorrow at The Charlemont Arms Hotel, The John O'Connor Celebration Evening will feature a bill packed full of homegrown musical and literary talents, with performances by Louis de Bernières, Horslips, Glenn Patterson, Fiachna Ó’Braonáin (Hothouse Flowers), Rosemary Jenkinson, Gareth Dunlop, Lisa Lambe, Karl O’Neill, Erin Halliday and Louise Kennedy.
On Sunday afternoon from 1pm, the same venue will host A Literary Lyrical Lunchtime, an event which promises "entertainment in song, poetry, prose and music" featuring a variety of writers, singers, musicians and poets.
Participants include Fermanagh-born poet Frank Ormsby reading and performing with Belfast singer-songwriter Anthony Toner, while award-winning Co Armagh author Orla McAlinden (author of The Accidental Wife) and Carrickfergus-based poet Matthew Rice, runner-up in this year's Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing, will also be treating audiences to readings.
This year's festival will then conclude with an Armagh Literary Walking Tour, a free one-hour literary-themed stroll around The Mall and city centre setting off from opposite Gaol Square at 3.30pm.
