A NEW book examining the links between Van Morrison's music and the city of his birth will be launched tomorrow night at No Alibis in Belfast.

In Another World: Van Morrison & Belfast by Gerald Dawe is described as "a unique trip through Belfast, mapped into the mystic through the timeless music of Van 'The Man' Morrison".

Belfast author and poet Dawe, a retired Professor of English and Fellow of Trinity College whose latest poetry collection, Mickey Finn’s Air, was published in 2014, celebrates the inspiration of pre-Troubles Belfast on Morrison’s music, while "transmuting the tender and unforgettable strains of Morrison’s work, from the release in 1968 of Astral Weeks to the publication in 2014 of Lit Up Inside: Selected Lyrics."

The launch for In Another World: Van Morrison & Belfast will take place at No Alibis on Botanic Avenue at 6pm on Friday November 24, with special guest speaker Glenn Patterson.
