A NEW series of monthly arts showcases in coastal locations around the north get under way this week with an event in Newcastle, Co Down. On Saturday evening, The Anchor Bar will host Whiskey Galore! featuring live performances from singer/songwriter Matt McGinn with pianist John McCullough and NI Music Prize winners The Wood Burning Savages.

The Bushmills-sponsored showcase will also include a screening of the acclaimed documentary The Irish Pub, plus stew, whiskey tasting and a DJ set from BBC presenter Joe Lindsay, who is also an artistic advisor at event organisers Snow Water.

It's the first in a monthly series of 'mini-festival'-style events, which are also set to visit Whitehead, Cushendall, Ballycastle, Rathlin and Portrush.

"We want to take the best of music, spoken word, film and dancing to some of the most special places in Northern Ireland," explains Lindsay.
