NEW or emerging writers from working-class backgrounds are invited to enter submissions for a new anthology, edited by Belfast author McVeigh (The Good Son).
The 32: An Anthology of Working Class Voices, will be published in Ireland and Britain next spring; it will include 16 well-known contributors and 16 new and emerging writers.
The project is a follow-on from last year's successful Common People anthology, which focused on English working-class writers, inspired by a concern that working-class voices are increasingly absent from the pages of books and newspapers. British-Irish writer Kit de Waal was the editor and driving force behind that publication.
The deadline is May 15 but if you quote The Irish News in your email entry you have until May 29. To enter, send up to 2,500 words of memoir and a 500-word personal statement about you, your writing and your background to the32@unbound.co.uk. Visit Unbound.com and search for The 32 for full details on how to apply. Good luck.
