BRACKFIELD Wood near Derry is to host an outdoor screening of Disney's Into the Woods.

The musical fantasy film starring Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and James Corden will be shown at 8.30pm on Friday August 26.

Admission is £5 per adult and £2 per child, with proceeds supporting the work of the Woodland Trust.

A free shuttle bus will be available from nearby Brackfield Bawn.

Moviegoers are advised to bring a torch, a rug or seat and a picnic, although refreshments can also be purchased on the evening.

Situated by the banks of the River Faughan, Brackfield Wood was created to commemorate the centenary of the First World War.

Michelle McCaughtry, Woodland Trust people engagement officer, said the screening is a "wonderful opportunity" to see the family film in a different light.

"We'll be outdoors, on a summer's evening, and in the most beautiful of settings. And as the characters embark upon their magical woodland adventures, we will – in a sense – be right there with them," she said.

"We've had thousands of individuals, schools and groups visit this special woodland by daytime. This time, we'll be arriving at sunset and sitting under a canopy of stars."

Booking is essential, and all children must be accompanied by an adult.
