A new clip has been released showing behind-the-scenes footage of the stars of Kenneth Branagh's Oscar-winning Belfast in which they discuss how close a bond they formed while making the film.

In the clip, writer and director Kenneth Branagh, Laura McDonnell (Moira), Lewis McAskie (Will) and Jude Hill (Buddy) discuss what it was like working together and how Branagh encouraged them to bring their own ideas to the characters and filming process and how they all quickly formed a family bond that benefited the film.

Last month, Branagh won the best original screenplay Oscar for the film, which is based on his childhood.

He said: “This is an enormous honour for my family and a great tribute to an amazing city and fantastic people.”

He added: “This story is the search for joy and hope in the fact of violence and loss. We lost some people along the way. We miss them, we love them and we will never forget them and we we will never forget all of those lost in the heartbreaking, heart-warming human story of that amazing city of Belfast on the fabulous island of Ireland. This means a lot.”
