Don't miss: The Zombies at CQAF Belfast

The Zombies, Thursday April 28, CQAF Marquee, Belfast

BETTER late than never: 1960s psyche-pop favourites and 'British Invasion'-ists The Zombies finally get around to playing Belfast next week, a mere 55 years after they first formed.

OK, admittedly the Colin Blunstone (vocals) and Rod Argent (keys/vocals)-led band actually split in 1967 after making just two albums – the second of which, Odessey and Oracle, wasn't even released until a few months after they'd gone their separate ways.

However, their pair of hit singles She's Not There and Time of The Season have endured, the latter culled from that 'posthumous' second LP which has since become regarded as something of a psychedelic classic.

In fact, it's number 100 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.

Having first re-united musically in 2001, Blunstone and Argent (the latter having gone on to form the rock band Argent, best known for the songs Hold Your Head Up and God Gave Rock and Roll to You) belatedly resurrected The Zombies name in 2004.

They released a critically acclaimed new LP, Still Got That Hunger, last year on Cherry Red records, which saw the band touring properly for the first time in decades.

Now, The Zombies are finally Belfast-bound.

Be there or be damned.
