Capturing Pablo – An evening with Steve Murphy & Javier Pena, December 15, Mandela Hall, Belfast
FANS of Netflix hit Narcos will not want to miss the chance to meet the real life former Drug Enforcement Agency operatives whose key roles in the take-down of Colombian drug kingpin Pablo Escobar were the inspiration for the television series.
Steve Murphy and Javier Pena will be visiting Belfast to speak about the rise and fall of the Medellin Cartel and how DEA agents fought long, hard and – as viewers will know – occasionally dirty to de-throne Escobar, who became known as The King of Cocaine in the 1980s during the 'war on drugs' before being killed in a shoot-out with Colombian National Police in 1993.
The evening's discussion will see the former agents shedding light on their input into the Netflix series, revealing the parts of the Escobar story that did not make it into the show and participating in a Q&A session with the audience.
