Three Belfast-based public relations practitioners have received the highest industry accolade as a tribute to their outstanding professionalism after being named as Fellows of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (CIPR).

Julie McCabe, managing director of Massive PR and Chris Harrison, director of JPR, were named as Fellows of the CIPR this week in its 2015 honours list.

They join Gary McKeown, communications manager at the Public Health Agency, who was named a Fellow earlier this year, along with some of the UK’s leading media, public relations and public affairs experts that have been recognised by the CIPR for their contribution to the public relations industry.

The CIPR announces new Fellows twice a year in recognition of outstanding contributions and work in public relations, service to the Institute and personal achievements within the profession.

All three were nominated for a Fellowship by local members of the CIPR and collected their awards at a ceremony at the House of Lords in London.

CIPR Northern Ireland chair Samantha Livingstone said: “I’d like to congratulate Julie, Chris and Gary on being named Fellows of the Institute. It’s the highest accolade in the industry and it’s great to see three local practitioners recognised in this way.

"All three have been strong advocates of the local region, with each of them past committee members and regional chairs. Together their contributions and support have underpinned the work of the region that is celebrating 50 years as a body representing PR practitioners in Northern Ireland.”
