A CO Antrim firm which provided kitchens and wardrobes for apartments used in the Batman movie The Dark Knight Rises is powering ahead into the New Year with an expansion programme into Britain fuelled by deals worth £2.4 million.
Woodland NI makes bespoke kitchen, bedroom and bathroom furniture from its 100,000 square feet Rasharkin manufacturing operation and has secured new business in GB markets for 2017 following successfully completing contracts worth £2m in the past six months.
One of the most recently completed projects is the Adagio ApartHotel in Edinburgh which Woodland furnished with kitchens and wardrobes for its 146 bedrooms in just 13 weeks.
The exciting new era for Woodland follows its commitment in 2015 to spearhead its contracting efforts across the water. This decision to expand its contracts division was taken on the back of its 25 years’ experience in the local market for supply and installation of kitchen and bedroom furniture.
The company was founded in 1987 by Brian McCloskey and has in that time supplied tailor-made kitchen, bedroom and bathroom cabinets to some of the largest multi-national retail houses and distribution companies.
Its contract clients include a number of top-end customers in the hotel, residential, and student accommodation sectors.
Woodland, which employs around 100 staff, has delivered strong trading performances over the last number of years.
Indeed in the 12 months to last February, its turnover soared by 26 per cent to £9.8m (up from 7.8m) mainly due to the development of new product lines, and its gross profit margin remained consistent at 23 per cent (£2.23m against £1.81m in 2014/15).
Brian McCloskey said the company’s ethos of continuous improvement was at the core of what Woodland do and a key to the growth the company is experiencing at this time.
“The company’s reputation for quality product and quality of installation on site has led to our growth and we are winning new business on the strength of what we have delivered. We aim to be a ‘supplier of choice’ for contractors in the high end-residential, hotel and student accommodation sectors.”
Other projects include the supply and installation of 404 kitchens and wardrobes at the Delta Point apartment block in Croydon.
Before its transformation into apartments, the building, a former BT office, was used as the setting for Gotham Hospital in the 2013 Batman film The Dark Knight Rises.
One of Woodland NI’s first major projects in GB was the supply and installation of 220 kitchens for new nine student blocks at the University of Salford, which were delivered last year.
