LUXURY furniture brand Neptune is set to open its first Irish store in Belfast, creating up to 20 jobs.
Based in the iconic Ormeau bakery, designers will be renovating the 5000 sq ft building for the £750,000 project, with a large section of the ground floor accommodating a showroom.
Dating back to 1875, the Ormeau Bakery turned its ovens off for the last time in 2002 and it has since been partially transformed into luxury apartments.
The Belfast Neptune store will showcase their full collection - from kitchen, dining and living furniture, to outdoor, accessories and lighting.
Currently, the full range of Neptune furniture is available from Malone and Smyth Interiors and Kitchens in Fermanagh, however the outlet in Belfast will be the first flagship store.
Fergal McAdam, Neptune’s director, said the decision to open on the Ormeau bakery was a mixture between finding the perfect location and meeting consumer demand.
"The Ormeau Road is a fantastic location and it is a privilege to breathe new life into the iconic Ormeau Bakery," he said.
"The Ormeau Road area is really taking off with new restaurants, cafes and bars complementing the existing businesses. There is a real buzz and it is the perfect home for Neptune.
"We have large numbers of people travelling from Belfast and surrounding areas to our Fermanagh store to access Neptune furniture and accessories.
"This convinced us of the need to open a fully dedicated Neptune store in the city."
Work on the Neptune Belfast store is due to begin shortly and the store will open its doors in late-summer for trading.
