A LEADING international catering equipment company is to move into landmark premises in Belfast city centre, creating new jobs for the local economy.
Nisbets, considered Europe's largest supplier of catering equipment, will open its first store in Ireland next month over three floors, in the building formerly housed by clothing store Cult on Royal Avenue.
The business, established in England in 1983, has more than 800 staff working from its UK headquarters, European offices and recently acquired company in Australia.
The firm, which has a head office in Bristol, supplies restaurants, cafes, bars, pubs, hotels and professional caterers and its export division ships to over 100 countries worldwide.
Nisbets opened its sole Irish office in Cork in 1996 and is Ireland's largest supplier of catering equipment.
The new Northern Ireland store will take up residence within the four-storey red brick building at 73-78 Royal Avenue, built in 1996.
Cult Clothing opened a 7,000 square foot store at ground and first floor level in September 2002 and in recent years the building has housed a Superdry outlet store.
In May 2014 Supergroup Plc and Co Down architects R.E Quinn submitted a planning application to change the ground and first floor from retail to restaurant use.
A further planning application was then lodged in February 2017 by Nisbets Plc and the Dromore based architects proposing ground floor facade alterations. Fit-out for the new store began last month.
The new store, located directly opposite the Castle Court Shopping Centre will open its doors at 9am on Tuesday May 2.
To celebrate the arrival of the new Nisbets store in Belfast, a special launch event will be held on Thursday May 4 where shoppers will be able to take home a free goody bag and avail of 20 per cent discount.
