A new £4m Co Antrim care home is to create more than 100 new jobs for the local economy.
The 80-bed Wood Green Healthcare centre in Jordanstown specialises in frail-elderly and dementia care and offers state-of-the-art facilities on its four acre site off the Circular Road.
The almost £4m investment is supported by finance from the Ulster Bank and the facility will formally open later this month.
It is understood that a limited number of residents and staff are already in place at the home, with recruitment for a range of roles ongoing.
Construction work on the major project began last year and owner Malachy Donnelly has pledged that the new facility will offer the "best care possible".
“The care home's approach is about much more than meeting the care needs of residents, it is about looking after the whole well-being of the individual, providing a luxury lifestyle that is both enriching and rewarding. Ulster Bank have supported in helping us achieve this," Mr Donnelly said.
“This is a benchmark healthcare facility where residents receive the best care possible, as all care assistants and staff are trained extensively in-house, not only to comply with the required national standards, but to the Home's own exacting standards,” he added.
Nigel Walsh, director of commercial banking at the Ulster Bank said the new project had significant potential.
“The management team behind Wood Green Healthcare Ltd have considerable experience in the sector, from a care and an operational perspective. Ulster Bank is delighted to support this project given the economic and social contribution that it has the potential to make through its development and operation," he said.
Wood Green Healthcare Ltd registered as a company on May 5, 2016.
The firm, which has an office address in Omagh, has two directors: Malachy Donnelly (58) and Siobhan Donnelly (54), both registered at the same Co Tyrone address. The pair are also listed as company directors at North West Hotel Developments Ltd, Wood Green Managment Company (NI) Ltd and M Donnelly Electrical Ltd.
