TAYTO park, Ireland's only theme park, has applied for planning permission to build a new 250 bedroom family hotel on site.
Plans were submitted yesterday to Meath County Council for the 32,000 square metre seven-storey hotel, which is to be built in wood to match the look and feel of the Ashbourne park.
It is estimated the proposals will provide 150 jobs during the construction of the hotel and 272 full and part time jobs when completed.
Upon completion the hotel will give visitors an option to stay overnight and will include a spa, meeting rooms and a function room that can accommodate up to 1,200 people as well as two sky bars and three restaurants.
Tayto Park opened in 2010 and is home to a range of rides and attractions, as well as its own on-site zoo.
One of the most popular attractions on the island of Ireland last year the park attracted almost 800,000 visitors, a quarter of which came from the north.
