HOLYWOOD-based Donaldson Legal Consulting (DLC) has established a strategic partnership with international law firm Fieldfisher which allows it to tap into markets across Europe as well as Shanghai and Silicon Valley.

Established by lawyer Alison Donaldson in 2005, DLC provides specialist financial trading documentation, negotiation and associated services to financial institutions, corporations and asset managers and currently employs 25 people.

The two firms had already partnered on specific client engagements through Fieldfisher's award-winning Condor Alternative Legal Solutions platform (it is a business division of Fieldfisher launched in January which offers clients a flexible and customisable range of services).

Guy Usher, head of Fieldfisher's derivatives group and a co-founder of Condor said: "This strategic tie up with Alison's business makes perfect sense.

"It enables us to go to market with yet another service offering for clients. It also gives the firm a new base from which to develop a centre for providing lower cost legal and documentation resources on work and projects generated by the Fieldfisher network."

DLC managing partner Alison Donaldson said she felt she had taken the her business as far as she could on her own and was aware of the Fieldfisher derivatives team, having worked with them on a number of client projects.

She said: "Fieldfisher has market leading practices in many of the world's most dynamic sectors, with a reputation as a forward-thinking organisation with a particular focus on technology, finance and financial services, energy and natural resources, life sciences and media.

"Its network has more than 1,000 people working across 17 offices providing highly commercial advice based on an in-depth understanding of our clients' needs."

Starting with only three people, Alison has built up the DLC team over the past 12 years, working closely with Brightwater to tap into the local legal market.
