LISBURN City is feeling ‘chipper’ after being chosen by retail and wholesale giant Musgrave (NI) as the latest location for a new type of Northern Ireland eatery.

Musgrave has introduced a new chip shop franchise, Chipmongers, to Lisburn, adding to a similar franchise outlet at Foyle Street in Derry.

The chain has already opened seven shops in the Republic (at Ballina, Bray, Cavan, Churchtown, Drumcondra, Enniscorthy and Cork) and says it has more planned for the north.

Chipmongers Lisburn (www.chipmongers.com) is based on the old BJ's site in Antrim Street, and it claims to give the traditional chippy a modern twist.

Proprietor Michael Ferris says: "At the heart of our brand is a passion for offering delicious, no-nonsense take away food that is a cut above the rest. That includes using fresher, better quality ingredients.

"We only use 100 per cent Irish beef in our burgers. Our chicken is always fresh, never frozen, and pressure fried for a juicier bite.

"Our fish is freshly battered using our signature lighter batter recipe. We also keep things fresh with unique options, like our ‘shake a flavour’ chips and topped chips."

He added: "We have a range of other sumptuous fayre, but come and try for yourselves."

Franchisees at Chipmongers enjoy many advantages of being part of a national brand.

These include marketing, staff training, menu development, technology support services, affinity deals, as well as ongoing business development support to grow the bottom line.
