AN Omagh engineering firm has secured a £5 million contract to supply shiploading equipment to Oman as part of an ongoing $15 billion infrastructure investment to cater for the export requirements of its local mining, quarrying and cement industries.
Telestack, recognised as one of the world's leading manufacturers in the global material handling industry has been appointed by the Port of Salalah to provide a mobile shiploading system designed to handle the added capacity generated by the infrastructure investment.
The equipment, which weighs approximately 560 tonnes, is designed to load limestone, gypsum and cement clinker and will be operational in Port of Salalah later this year. The system also has the added benefits of mobility, flexibility and a lower cost per tonne achieved by increased production rates, reduced cycle times and reduced labour costs.
In addition to the Port of Salalah contract, the Co Tyrone manufacturer, which employs 155 people, has recently secured over £10m of additional business for its ship loading systems, supplying customers in the Middle East, Russia, USA, South America, Africa and Europe. The firm has also recently completed stage one of a multi-million pound plant expansion and improvement strategy in Omagh that will prepare the factory for sustained growth.
Managing Director Martin Dummigan said: “Our continued investment is necessary to support our company’s growth. Central to our long-term growth strategy is the future-proofing of our facility so that we may continue to provide an extensive range of world-class products. A further £2m plant investment is already underway in 2018 to help increase capacity, improve throughput and ultimately prepare the factory for sustained growth. 2018 will also see the development of a dedicated Innovation and R&D centre along with a new customer experience suite.”
Commercial Director Malachy Gribben added: "Endorsements such as the Port of Salalah contract is heartening as it helps to validate our innovative engineering concepts. This is our largest single order ever and is the first system of its kind across the globe. Our experience and competence is vital when designing a system like this and much of our success is driven by our innovation, customization and a proven record of performance."
