A LOCAL independent ice cream chain is to open its fourth outlet in the north, creating 15 jobs.
Nugelato is launching a new store on the Stranmillis Road in Belfast on Tuesday following a £150,000 investment, adding to existing locations in Newcastle, Newry and Bangor.
Nugelato opened its first store on Central Promenade in Newcastle in 2015 and has since gone from strength to strength. The new Belfast outlet will bring the total jobs created at the business to 75.
Managing director, Michael Nugent said they are thrilled to continue the brand's rapid expansion in the north.
“We’re excited to be opening our store in Belfast and are delighted to announce that we are bringing 15 jobs to the Belfast area," he said.
“As a thriving company we felt that this is the right time to grow the business again and to expand the company’s opportunities in 2019. Our new store will be a welcome addition to South Belfast and the Stranmillis area. We are thrilled to bring our famous Nuggypot closer to so many of our loyal Belfast customers who already make the journey to our other stores. ”
Based on a traditional family recipe since 1930, Nugelato offers a modern take on quality, handmade ice cream by combining it with a unique chocolate experience.
“We introduced the very first hot chocolate tap to Northern Ireland which we imported direct from Italy and our customers travel from far and wide to experience our unique Nuggys chocolate sauce on tap," Mr Nugent said.
"Our Belfast store features two of these special hot chocolate taps and are quite the sight when they are in full flow.
“We proudly use our home made recipe in store to create the freshest ice cream that is made before your very eyes. All of these elements allow us to create the ultimate ice cream experience," he added.
