TWO neighbouring Belfast hotels have completed significant refurbishments worth a combined £12 million.
Jurys Inn and the Fitzwilliam Hotel, both located on Great Victoria Street have announced the completion of two major renovation programmes, bringing additional rooms to the local market.
Jurys Inn, one of the UK and Ireland's leading hotel groups, has completed a £9.1m refurbishment at its Belfast city centre location.
The work has increased capacity by 42 per cent, with a further 80 rooms meaning that the hotel now boast 270 in total.
The hotel’s lobby, restaurant and bar areas have also been given a makeover, incorporating new décor, with contemporary furnishings sourced from local suppliers, including Balmoral Furniture and Ulster Carpets.
Additionally, new self-check-in kiosks have been installed as part of the hotel’s commitment to enhancing its technology offering.
Jurys Inn Belfast general manager, Ryan Foster said the refurbishment has "completely transformed" the hotel.
"We look forward to welcoming guests and locals alike, and hope they love the hotel’s new look as much as we do," he said.
The five-Star Fitzwilliam Hotel has just completed the second phase of development at its premises on Great Victoria Street, bringing the total amount invested in the property since 2016 to £5m.
The latest phase of investment has seen the addition of a further 16 bedrooms and a new penthouse suite with panoramic views over the city.
The Penthouse, located on the ninth floor, has been completed in time for visitors attending this year’s Open golf champiosnhip at Royal Portrush. The luxury accommodation boasts a private wrap around roof terrace overlooking Belfast and its very own baby grand piano.
The latest work follows an initial £2m refit in November 2016, which involved the refurbishment of the lobby and hotel bedrooms.
Fitzwilliam Hotel general manager, Cian Landers added:
"The addition of these new rooms and The Penthouse increases the total number of rooms to 146, a 12 per cent increase, which will help to meet the continuing rise in visitors seeking luxury accommodation in the city, which we are thrilled about.”
