A MUCKAMORE man has been appointed as vice-president of the National Association of Shopfitters (NAS), which represents the interests of almost 250 interior fit-out contractors throughout Britain and Northern Ireland
Alan Stewart, business development and marketing manager at award-winning Marcon Fit-Out, was appointed at the organisation’s recent AGM in London.
He has served on the NAS Council for three years and will assume the presidency in 2020.
Mr Stewart said: “It's an honour to have been selected as the vice president of the NAS in this, its centenary year, and I look forward to working with president Marc Allen and the council as we enter an exciting time for the association.
“Being a long-time supporter of the NAS and having served on its council for a number of years, it is rewarding to be able to represent Marcon Fit-Out in this capacity and I look forward to working closely with our members and associate members over the coming years.”
The NAS – membership of which is regarded as a mark of quality - was formed a year after World War 1. It has 246 members, all of whom work in the interior fit-out sector. Its core purposes are to facilitate networking, the provision of a comprehensive portfolio of subsidised training and to drive up professional standards.
The NAS’ membership spectrum ranges from small, owner-managed businesses to international plcs based in towns and cities throughout GB and Northern Ireland. Combined membership turnover is around £1.3 billion.
Projects NAS members have delivered over the past 100 years include Titanic Belfast, Tate Britain, London, Princess Royal Stand at Cheltenham Race Course, The Shangri-La Hotel, The Shard and Queen's Library Windsor Castle.
