BELFAST-based translation firm Diversity has announced plans to create eight new jobs.

The company, which is based on the Newtownards Road in Belfast said the expansion follows a significant increase in new business and the awarding of one of Northern Ireland’s largest public sector tenders for interpreting.

It will take the firm’s employee count to 15, managing an extended network of over 500 fully qualified interpreters.

Earlier this year, the company launched a new telephone interpreting service, offering clients access to over 250 supported languages.

Founded by Bulgarian native Paolina Hawthorne in 2010, Diversity has established itself within the translation and interpreting sector, delivering services to over 1,700 clients in the past nine years.

“As we’re fast approaching our tenth year in business, we’re excited to see the business expand – not just in terms of our team, but our contracts, breadth of interpreters and languages we offer,” said Ms Hawthorne.

“We’re investing in the business, as significant growth and expansion are very much part of our five-year plan.”

In addition to the job investment, the company has recently added eight rare languages to its offering including Hausa, Edo, Twi, Akan and Lgbo.

With the recent language additions, Diversity now offers clients access to over 77 different languages, with 70 full time registered linguistics currently dedicated to the interpreting of Arabic in Northern Ireland.
