LEISURE airline and package holiday specialist Jet2.com will launch a new Greek route from Belfast International Airport next summer.
It will operate a weekly Wednesday flight to Corfu during July, August and September, with prices starting from £80 one way.
And it means Jet2 will operate to 25 summer destinations from Belfast, including four Greek destinations, with Zante, Rhodes and Heraklion already on sale.
It will come as a small source of comfort to the international airport, which has seen key customer Ryanair significantly scale back on its capacity there, slashing seven routes from its winter schedule and also axing next summer's Alicante flight.
Jet2.com's addition of Corfu for next summer gives customers in Northern Ireland access to secret coves, olive-strewn hills and bustling beach resorts on the Ionian sea island, also also means holidaymakers can access the resorts of Sidari, Kavos, Kassiopi, Corfu Town, Roda and Acharavi.
The carrier's chief executive Steve Heapy said: “We're pleased to be strengthening our offer from Belfast. Corfu is the ultimate Greek getaway, offering rugged mountains and picturesque seaside villages and we’re sure that the destination will prove popular with local holidaymakers.”
Graham Keddie, managing director at Belfast International Airport, added: “We're delighted to see Jet2.com and Jet2holidays increasing its number of routes on offer for summer 2020.”
