CYBER security start-up Angoka has opted for Belfast as location for its headquarters building and development centre.

The company, which manages the cyber risks inherent in connected and autonomous vehicles, smart cities and IoT devices, has set up at Catalyst the Innovation Centre in Titanic Quarter, where it will focus on creating secure communications solutions for businesses.

Angoka has been offered £45,000 of support from Invest NI towards the creation of nine engineering and business analyst jobs, four of which are in place.

The firm's executive chairman Steve Berry said: “We're excited to be joining the excellent ecosystem for cyber security that has grown in Northern Ireland over the last number of years.

“Our location in Belfast will enable us to make the most of our partnership with CSIT and RISE, the UK Research Institute for Security Hardware and Embedded Systems, at Queen’s University.

“We are also looking forward to recruiting and working with high-quality engineering and cyber security candidates who have graduated from local universities.”

Invest NI's executive director of international business Steve Harper said: “Angoka’s decision to establish its headquarters in Belfast is testament to Northern Ireland’s renowned expertise and talent within the global cyber security sector.

“Our support to create the new jobs is enabling Angoka to build a team in Belfast which will provide innovative hardware solutions for managing the cyber security risks inherent in machine-to-machine communication networks for critical infrastructure.”
